Consider the fact that the
speaker of “Gathering the Bones
Together” saves until the last stanza the info that he held the gun that killed
his brother. What effect(s) does this have on you as a reader? How does it
change what comes earlier in the poem?
Consider the final image of
the bridge of bones. How would you describe this image (what adjective might
you use)? What purpose does it seem to serve, as the last moment of the poem?
